A popular figure at Greenwich Avenue, ‘Bettsy’ has been in recovery since picking up an innocuous training ground injury back in March which required surgery two-and-a-half months later, coinciding with the expiry of his contract.

That followed an earlier spell on the sidelines, when an injury picked up at Redditch United last October saw him ruled him out for five months.

Since then, however, he has been in rehabilitation and, with full support of the club, looks set to make some kind of a return in the coming months after putting pen-to-paper on a new deal.
