The hosts lead 2-0 at the break thanks to goals to Sam Bingham and Leo Priestley. But Sam Newell and Kiarn Nyemba scored to send the game to penalties.
We scored all four of our spot kicks with Rory Harrison firing in the decisive kick after Gianni Musson had pulled off two saves.
The game was slow to get going as both sides looked to build their way into the contest but we edged the early exchanges in terms of chances created. Lewis Rourke was played in on goal but he could not get the ball under control before Wayde Hines had an effort from 30-yards blocked.
After Hines saw another effort blocked the hosts moved in front. The ball was played out to Bingham and he smashed it across goal and into the far corner of the net. We then looked for an immediate equaliser but Hines could only find the side netting after Louis Nicholson did well down the left.
Max Baker then went close from a corner before Bingham fired just wide of the post as the hosts looked to extended their advantage.
We then went close again with a corner of our own but Nathaniel Peters headed just wide at the back post. Towards the end of the half Newell slipped in Hines and he forced a good stop from Bradley Matzk.
But we were further behind at the break as Priestley converted from the penalty spot after the referee gave blew his whistle for handball.
Within ten minutes of the restart we were back in the game. The ball was worked to Newell whose strike beat the ‘keeper and settled into the far corner. Musson was then at his best to keep out Bingham, who was looking for his second of the night.
Peters then went close before we were level. A low ball into the box was spilt by the ‘keeper and Nyemba was there to stab home the rebound.
It was the one-way traffic as we searched for a winner with Nyemba and Ferdinand Bartley both having headers saved. We pilled on the pressure before the final whistle saw the game go to penalties.
We scored our first three spot kicks with Musson pulled off two good saves. That left Harrison to fire home and send us into the first round proper.
