Basford United announce the signings of Charlie Gatter and Jordan Pierrepont as well as the re-signing of veteran Lewis Carr.

The news caps off a fantastic week for the club that also saw us win a £25k share of the Buildbase £100k competition for community projects.

Firstly, the club is delighted Lewis Carr has agreed to a one-year deal. The defender, an excellent servant to the club, now enters his fifth season in Basford amber.

The two great signings announced today are of real pedigree and potential that meet our immediate needs but also continue to help us future-proof the squad. The club is delighted to announce defender Charlie Gatter and young highly-rated goalkeeper prospect Jordan Pierrepont have agreed deals with the club.

22-year-old Charlie Gatter is the former central defensive partner of Stef Galinski from their time at Hednesford Town. Gatter is well known to Steve Chettle from his time as an apprentice at Nottingham Forest and has been a target of Basford for a couple of years now.

20-year-old goalkeeper Jordan Pierrepont joins Basford United from Heanor Town on a three-year deal. Standing at 6'7", Pierrepont is viewed as one of the best young prospects at his age in the East Midlands. Jordan represented Matlock Town's first team at 17, was involved at Chesterfield FC as a youngster and was most recently tracked by Sheffield Wednesday. He kept 11 clean sheets for Heanor Town last season. Basford would like to thank Glen Clarence from Heanor Town for agreeing on this deal which will include a future sell-on fee.

We would also like to thank Sportz Connecxions for their help getting these deals over the line.

Commenting on a busy week, an upbeat Steve Chettle stated: “It has been a fantastic week for the football club; winning the Buildbase prize and planning for the extension for the clubhouse in order to provide a new facility for the community to use.

"We have been working hard to put the next pieces of our jigsaw together and getting the players that we have been looking at for some time. We welcome Charlie and Jordan to Basford United and will hopefully be able to integrate them into the squad for pre-season training at the end of the month if Government guidelines allow.

"Adding Charlie and securing Lewis strengthens our defensive unit, and adding a goalkeeper gives us strength in depth in that position and someone to work hard with Kieran Preston and push him all the way through pre-season."
