Robbie Cleary scored the only goal of the game in the 33rd minute as Bamber Bridge secured all three points on a freezing cold Saturday afternoon at the SFC Stadium.
It was an even start to the game as Bamber Bridge had more of the ball, but Basford had the better chances as we nearly took the lead in the 4th minute as we broke quick from a Bamber Bridge corner with Kane Richards, but Lewis Hay got back but almost ended up diverting his own clearance past his own keeper.
We thought we had taken the lead moments later when Ash Chambers slotted the ball past Charlie Casper however, he was controversially deemed offside!
Michael Potts had the hosts best chance of the opening half an hour, but he glanced a header just over the bar from close range. The deadlock was eventually broken in the 33rd minute when we failed to deal with a throw and Robbie Cleary bundled the ball over the line to give Brig the lead.
We had a good chance to get back on level terms just before the break from our own goalmouth scramble however Brig keeper Casper managed to get hold of the ball.
The home side could have doubled their lead at the start of the second half, but Saul Deeney pulled off a magnificent save to deny Will Russ when through one-on-one.
We then had our best chance of the second half when Jordan Hallam whipped in a good free kick from the left channel, but it was just too far in front of the on-rushing Theo Hudson.
From there on the game turned scrappy with the pitch starting to rip up and both teams struggling to keep hold of the ball. The full-time whistle blew as the Ambers fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Bamber Bridge.
