Basford United take on Eastwood CFC in a pre-season friendly at Greenwich Avenue.

Basford United continue their preparation for the new season as they take on Eastwood CFC in their second pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

Basford won their first pre-season game against Kimberley Miners Welfare, whereas Eastwood lost their third pre-season game against Kettering over the weekend. Their previous two games ended in a win and a defeat for the Red Badgers.

Like in the game against Kimberley, Basford boss Steve Chettle will likely be going with two sides, each getting 45 minutes in order to build up the squad's match fitness. There could also be more new faces in the squad with the club set to announce two new players ahead of kick off and Chettle including player’s from the academy in his plans ahead of the season.

Chettle said: "Tomorrow evening we continue our pre-season schedule and we welcome Eastwood to Greenwich Avenue. It's our second fixture of pre-season after our opening game against Kimberley MW, which we came out 1-0 winners and giving our squad 45 minutes each.

" Tomorrow's game gives the players chance to build in their base level fitness and gain more valuable match practice. We will get more minutes into their legs and it will be some players' first minutes of pre-season after injury or unavailability.

" It was weird against Kimberley playing behind closed doors but it's something we have to get used to through August and hopefully by September we will be able to open our gates again to supporters, who are missing watching live games.

" On Saturday we travel to Long Eaton before we host Melton Town and Alfreton Town in our final August games. We are trying to arrange games for the beginning of September and are awaiting confirmation from teams. As soon as we have news of the fixtures we will be able to put them out on social media."

The game kicks off at 7:45PM and can be followed on the club’s Twitter account via live updates on live commentary of the game is available on Mixlr.

The club would like to further reiterate that following FA and Government guidelines the game will take place behind closed doors.
