We are delighted to welcome Mason Frizelle to Greenwich Avenue after the defender agrees to join after recently leaving Gresley Rovers and becomes manager James Jepson’s first new signing.
Standing at 6’3”, the highly rated 27-year-old hails from the local area and has played for both Kimberley Miners Welfare and Dunkirk before he joined Gresley in 2020.
He has played nine times for the Moatmen this season, scoring once in a FA Cup, Extra Preliminary Round tie away at AFC Wulfrunians.
Of the move, Frizelle said: “I’m buzzing to be here at my hometown club and I’m looking forward to the challenge of step 3 football.
“I’ve known the gaffer, Jeppo, for a long time and had a brief spell as a player with Danny Holmes, so I know them both well and I’m really excited to be playing for them and can’t wait to get started on Saturday.”
Manager Jepson added: “It’s great that Mason has decided to join us, and I think it’s fair to say he’s been ready for the step up for a year or two now but has been loyal to Gresley.
“It’s a club Danny and I played and won the league won the league at and a good club where I’ve fond memories, so I understand why he has stayed but the time is now for him to move on, and I’m delighted we’ve beaten off interest to get him.
“Mason is a very good central defender and will give us something different moving forward, add to that he’s a Nottingham lad. He lives 5 minutes from the ground, which fits in with trying to get the best local players we can who understand the club and want to help the club long-term but also make an impact.
“Mason’s dad, Paul, played at Basford United and was a good player for the club so it will also be great to see him at the ground, too.”
Frizelle will be available for Saturday’s trip to Hyde United in the Northern Premier League.
