United are thrilled to confirm the signing of Mansfield Town striker Joshua Scott on a four-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old put pen-to-paper on a two-year professional deal at the One Call Stadium back in September and will bolster manager Steve Chettle’s attacking options.
Last pre-season, Scott was promoted to the Stags’ first team and appeared in games against Peterborough United and West Bromwich Albion under-23s.
He spent some time on loan at Kettering Town in the National League North last season and was recognised for his on and off-the-field achievements when he was selected in the League Football Educations ‘The 11’ earlier this year.
On the signing, Chettle said: “We’re delighted with the signing of Josh. I’ve known about him for a year now and we knew him when he went to Kettering Town.
“We spoke to ‘keeper Adam Collin about him to talk about how well he did there even though the season was curtailed.
“I’ve known Richard Cooper [Mansfield Academy manager] for a very long time, and obviously know Nigel [Clough, Manager] and Simon [Clough, Head of Recruitment] very well, so we’re really pleased about getting Josh on board.
"He’s available for all competitions and we look forward to the journey. Hopefully he can bring goals. Josh is a hard worker and has a fantastic attitude and, he’ll be a fantastic asset to the football club as long as he is with us."
Speaking of his arrival, Hartlepool-born Scott added: “It’s great to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I heard big things about what the club want to do – they want to push on and get forward and I can’t wait now.
“I’ll be looking to score goals and play as much as I can, as well as assist and contribute to the team and pick up as many wins as we can to push up the table.”
Scott will be immediately available for the visit of Witton Albion on Saturday.
