We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of ex Donny Bells keeper Paige Johnson who spent the end of last season at Greenwich Avenue.
Johnson joined United back in April when the Amberettes were going through a goalkeeper crisis when both keepers picked up injuries! Johnson’s debut was against local rivals Ilkeston Town where she picked up the player of the match award after some outstanding saves!
Goalkeeper coach Chris Mellor said the following after Paige’s signing:
“A great signing for the club as we look to build on the success of last season.”
“Paige came in on loan towards the end of the season and from day one she impressed the coaching staff with her attitude and ability towards both training and matchdays.”
“I am delighted that, with the environment we have created and the vision we have at Basford, Paige has chosen that this is the right place for her to continue her goalkeeping journey.”
“Paige is a very talented, young goalkeeper with whom I am looking forward to continuing working with when the GK union get back together for pre-season!”
Head Coach Paul Adams said the following:
“I am delighted to have signed Paige. She showed us in her short loan spell the excellent qualities she's possesses.”
“So, to sign her for next season shows the vision on where we want to take this team. After an excellent 2nd season winning the County cup and a stronger league campaign we want to kick on, so the signing of Paige will take us in that direction."
