Basford United Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Stan Mitchell and Wayne Miles as first team chairman and vice-chairman respectively with immediate effect.
Respected figurehead Pete Moody will also come on board to offer support on a matchday.
Stan and ‘Milo’ have both been stalwarts at Greenwich Avenue for over ten years and have offered plenty in respective roles, not only in the growth of the club but also the promotion pathway of the first team.
They have vast knowledge and thoroughly understand the needs of our fanbase. With a keen interest in expanding on the club’s commercial growth, a lot of focus will be on off-field activities, maximising the use of the brand-new clubhouse and hospitality offerings, as well as sponsorship opportunities that will assist with a self-sustainable model.
Stan will be the club’s lead contact with several existing major sponsors, all whilst looking to increase the pool of key contacts and the reformation of United’s vets team.
On the appointments, owner Chris Munroe said: “I am delighted to offer Stan, Milo and Pete senior boardroom positions which they have gratefully accepted. I am sure they will do a great job in the next phase of the club’s progression.
“I am sorry it didn’t work out for Rudy Funk, but the size of this job is a big one which requires a collective effort from senior figureheads and I feel that these appointments offer the club a platform to push on toward that next exciting face of our history.
“I have been very keen for all sections of Basford United Football Club - i.e. the first team all the way down to the junior sections – to be spearheaded by senior figures and I am delighted to say that we are almost there.”
Stan Mitchell stated: “The club has come a long way in the past ten years, but now is the time to rebuild that togetherness, atmosphere, and unity.
“Milo and I have worked closely within football now for nearly 20 years and we understand each other’s strengths. We are here to help in all areas and will support James Jepson and his staff where necessary and they see fit.”
Wayne Miles added: “I’m looking forward to taking on this new role and helping Stan, Chris and the club move forward, together with the players, coaches and supporters.
“It would be fantastic to see some new and old faces back down the Avenue, as both Stan and I look to bolster that close relationship we have with the fans.”
