A stunning strike from Mitchell Tait sealed a deserved point against full-timers South Shields at the weekend.
Darius Osei had put Kevin Phillips’ men in front just before the half-hour but let their foot off the gas in the second half.
United dominated for large spells in the second 45 and took home a share of the spoils when Tait’s thunderbolt whistled past Myles Boney in the away goal.

David Boafo’s side went one up through Will Lathwood against Newcastle Town, before two sloppy goals – both scored by Lewis Holdham ensured the points headed back to Staffordshire.
The result propels Town above Basford in the latest standings, though there is a lot of football to be played in the MJPL Premier Division.

Jonny Gilbert and Jack Vipond sealed an impressive win for our U16s away at Nuneaton Borough on Saturday.
BASFORD UNITED U16 (RAVENS) 7 – 2 JACKSDALE U16
Aaron Barks’ U16 side came away with a fantastic 7-2 win over table-toppers Jacksdale, to carry on their impressive run of winning games.
United flew out of the blocks and striker David Olotamide helped himself to 4 first half goals. Yadial Kubrom added another and, despite a late first half consolation, Basford headed into the break 5-1 up.
Leo Almond returned from injury as he replaced Olotamide and capped his return with two quick-fire goals to make it 7-1. Jacksdale added their second late on, but Basford comfortably move 2nd in the league, 2 points behind their opponents with a deuce of games in hand.
They travel to Ilkeston Town next week where a win will take them top, before taking on Mansfield Town in the semi-final of the cup competition.
BASFORD UNITED U15 2 – 4 AFC WARRIORS SAXONS U15
Goals from Cameron O’Grady and Harry Wallace proved in vain as a Noah Wilkinson hat-trick, and a Iheanyi Amaechi strike sealed the win for the visitors at Greenwich Avenue.
BASFORD U14 UNITED 1 – 3 SANDIACRE TOWN (TITANS) U14
Daniel Vanderpuye tallied another to his impressive record but a brace from Blake Harrison and Kian Boyes sealed the victory for Town.
