Steve Chettle is delighted to announce his latest signing James Tague.
Tague signs a two-year deal from Gainsborough Trinity.
18-Year-old Tague spent the bulk of last season at Matlock Town under Steve Kitterick, breaking into the First team at the beginning of 2020 and impressed by scoring goals from the middle of the park and having the ability to drive into the box.
Following the departure of Steve Kitterick, Tague moved to Gainsborough Trinity in March, but with the season curtailed immediately due to the Pandemic, he quickly came on our radar and comes very highly recommended.
Tague caught Steve Chettle's eye with a fine performance in Matlock Town’s thumping Integro League cup win against Basford in January, so we feel this is a great coup and fits the profile of the club, bringing in exceptional talent for longevity, but who also have the ability to immediately integrate into the 2020-21 Basford United FC First team squad.
James has previously spent eight years at Derby County and two years on the apprenticeship scheme at Mansfield Town, he has bags of potential and Steve Chettle is delighted to conclude this deal.
Chettle commented: “We are delighted to complete the deal for James for the next two seasons. James was another of the players we have been monitoring and his name has been forwarded to me from various avenues.
“His pedigree is very good as an Academy project at Derby County and a scholarship at Mansfield Town. James is another player that fits our profile and to have another talented midfield player, who is left footed. We are all keen to get back together and start preparation for next season, whenever that may be.”
