Following the club announcement yesterday evening regarding Manager Martin Carruthers, we can confirm extensive discussions have taken place between Stan Mitchell, Wayne Miles , Saul Deeney and Martin as to not only how we deal with the Short-term absence of Martin, but more so a plan for the remember of the current 24/25 season and hopefully beyond.

Therefore, we are delighted to confirm the club has turned to Luke Potter to return to the club from immediate as Head Coach and join Martin and Saul as part of the 1st team management team.

Luke as fans may remember was Steve Kitterick' number 2 at Basford appointed for the back end of the 22/23 season and start of the 23/24 season and did an excellent job. Luke played in the Football League with Barnsley and has enjoyed a number of managerial and coaching roles, holding a UEFA A Coaching Licence, and built a strong connection with Players/Officials and BUFC fans during his 1st stint. It is no secret Basford wanted Luke to form a management team to take the club forward during 23/24 after the exit of Steve, but we could not quite get this over the line.

Andrew Danylyszyn will relinquish his position as part of this 1st team management restructure. In the interim whilst Martin Carruthers is absent Wayne Miles will add his experience returning to the bench in a support role.

Owner Chris Munroe makes the following statement with regard to Andrew:

"Andrew is employed by me as Head Of Our Football Educational Academy in what I regard as the 2nd biggest coaching position in the club, and alongside coach David Boafo does an excellent job working Full Time with our 50 Academy Scholars prospects comprising 3 teams U19s National League, U18s Floodlight Midland League & U18s SCL development League."

"My view is this is a big workload and comes with the position. This first team management decision taken is of no detriment to Andrew, but myself and my senior Board members Stan, Milo supported by Secretary Jo Howson are all as one that any manager of Basford United personally selects his own management team, this is the basis taken for this decision and we are sure one that will result in Martin Carruthers returning as soon as he feels able to return"
