Following on from our earlier statement regarding the departure of Martin Carruthers, the club and owner wish to advise that Luke Potter supported by Saul Deeney will become the new Basford United 1st team manager with immediate effect and will take charge of our Nottinghamshire derby on Saturday when we host Worksop Town at Greenwich Avenue - 3pm kick off,
Commenting Basford Owner Chris Munroe makes the following statement:
“Following on from the sad departure news regarding Martin, that I totally respect, I send Martin and his family our clubs sincere regards and appreciation for what he has brought to Basford United over two spells. I am sure Martin will not be a stranger at Greenwich Avenue, but we and I totally respect his wish to step aside."
" I though am delighted to offer Luke Potter supported by Saul Deeney the position of 1st team manager & Assistant. Both have all the attributes to take us into the next phase of Basford United and I hope to be talking about 25/26 as soon as feasible. With Saul likely to continue playing then Luke will assess what he needs and wants as support in the dugout. I personally ask our fanbase to rally round Luke and Saul and all our players as we embark on a run of big games over the coming weeks, and I and we thank you for your continued support”
