After the draw, club chairman Chris Munroe commented “We would like to thank personally all those, both within Basford United FC and some of our excellent partnership clubs, who supported this prize draw by selling tickets and also big congratulations to the winners of all the twenty prizes. It’s been a fabulous day towards a really worthwhile cause that will be a massive investment for the community of Basford. The numerous football clubs that currently utilise Greenwich Avenue will all be benefiting from a brand new quality surface.“

Munroe was referring to the proposed new 3G surface, which will replace the current, main Greenwich Avenue pitch.

The club are delighted to report formal planning approval has been received from Nottingham City Council, with the next stage now being the Football Foundation’s approval, which hopefully will be received in January. With the project needing to be ready for the start of the 2016-17 football season and with a three month construction period, Munroe is hoping the diggers can arrive in May to commence the project.

Everybody at the club would like to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and are hoping to see you down at Greenwich Avenue on Boxing Day (Saturday 26th December) for the big local derby clash with Carlton Town (3pm kick-off).
